Screech Owl of Late Summer
I finally figured out to edit the video from my camera. I taped the sounds of a screech owl the other night and wanted to share with you. I hope you can hear the owl over the cicadas.
I remember hearing my first screech owl when I was a little girl. I was so afraid because I thought it sounded like a woman crying.
The dogs and I heard one the other night and they listened intently. I don't think they had ever heard one and it was hard for me to get them to do what they came outside to do.
NCmountainwoman--I can see why you were afraid when you heard the owl when you were young. My dog will bark but she was in the house at the time. Thanks for commenting.
What a mysterious video. And a cool idea to share the haunting call, though I would have recognized it if you hadn't told that it was a screech owl. We heard Great Horned Owls at our last house. None here, though. I've given thought as to how to attract them.
What a wonderful call!
ReplyDeleteThank Dawn. I have been hearing his call for awhile now but that is the closest he was to our front porch.
